Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Normally one of the busiest areas in Kyoto, Japan, visiting early in the morning awarded me with a quiet and peaceful walk through the grounds of Yasaka shrine, or Yasaka-jinja, a Shinto shrine located in the popular Gion district.
At each entrance of Yaska shrine at huge red Torii, or Japanese gate towers over you, a common sight at Shinto shrines in Japan. In front of this gate a huge Japanese maple (Acer palmatum, known as momiji in Japan) catches the early morning spring sunshine
